Description: This is an excellent book that explains the fundamentals of digital and analogue communications.

As with most recommended texts, the usefulness of the book depends largely on the course that one undertakes. Personally, Couch's book proved very helpful as an aid to revision, explaining most of the difficult concepts in communications.

An interesting feature of this edition is that it describes some of the latest developments in communications, including GSM.

The book devotes a chapter to the mathematical base of modern communications. I found, however, that most of the maths was beyond my capability to understand - but did not inhibit the usefulness of this text, to any significant extent.

A key feature of all technical books should be worked examples of typical problems - and Couch's book is no exception, providing ample detail to most of his solutions.

"Digital and Analog Communication Systems" is a great book, providing all the features that one would expect from a book on this diverse subject.
